"Your shoes are on the wrong feet," a woman said to her granddaughter.

The two year old inspected her shoes. "But, Grandma," she said, "these are the only feet I have."

"Someone painted the letters F, U, C, K on the school sliding board," a first grader said to her mother. "My teacher wouldn't tell us, but I knew what it said . . . I sounded it out."

"We have every other kind of day in the world," one child said. "Why don't we have Kid's Day?"

"SAY WHAT?"

A CHILD'S VIEW

Children think and say some truly funny stuff!

They often ask questions in wonder . . .

Once, at the age of four, my daughter asked, "Where does the moon go in the day time, Mom? Down in the grass?"

Hi Lynn,

This happened at my house. Once, years ago, I got up early to sounds down stairs .When I discovered my daughter had been making Coco all over the kitchen, I gave her a swat and sent her to her room.

Jozie was not one to get in much trouble and she really took offense to the swat, but she stayed quiet right away. About the time I had  cleaned up, she returned, gave me one of those looks and said, "Dad, you really should not spank me."

I was a little startled at this and said, "Why is that, Jozie?"

She had her answer all figured out. It just tore at my heart. "Dad," she said, "I can do any thing clowns can do. I can make you laugh."

Well, I was in shock. For a three or four old girl, this was a lot of thought.

Then she said, "Except somersaults. Is that all right, Dad?"

There was no good answer for that. I just said, "Okay, Jozie." But I had to turn away. Something was in my eyes.

Hi Lynn,

I was just on your website and read one of the child's point of view pages. I have a very touching one to share.

A child's first experience with death (loss of a loved one) is usually an animal.

My grandaughter Hailey, age 5, had a long-haired chihuahua named GiGi. GiGi was very attached to Hailey. She was 2 yrs old and let Hailey dress her up, push her in the doll carriage, slept with her and was her best friend.

A few weeks ago Hailey let GiGi outside to take care of business. Hailey got busy watching a favorite movie. Hailey's dad went outside to put the trash out and discovered GiGi mingled alongside the road at the end of the driveway.

They called me. Granny. They were just unsure how to break the news to Hailey. My advise was to tell her. She would have to know why GiGi never returned.

They finally got the courage to tell their 5 yr. old daughter what had happened. I could hear Hailey crying and screaming, " I want my GiGi."

I spoke to Hailey on the phone and explained to her that GiGi went to heaven to be with all the little puppies that went there and did not have a mommy and now all the little puppies were happy and running around wagging their tails playing with GiGi. This seemed to calm her some.

Hailey finally slept that night. They had GiGi's funeral the next morning. What a sad funeral it was!

Hailey's mommy said, "See, Daddy loved GiGi."

Hailey said, "Then why did Daddy never hold GiGi?"

Hailey's parents bought her another puppy . . . A Yorkie. Hailey later told her mom, "I miss GiGi more than a flower needs water, more than people need water."

Hailey wants to find out who ran over her beloved GiGi. She said she is going to put everybody in the world in a room and ask them if they ever ran over a dog. Then she will ask, "Did you ever run over a dog in sunrise?"
